Born and raised in Sheffield, England, Toby blends cinematic, narrative techniques with a sense of documentary realism.

He has directed commercials and branded content for the likes of BMW, United Nations, Fujifilm, Oakley, Footlocker, and over 10 spots for Nike. His Nike x House of Hoops national spot was broadcast on TNT during the NBA All Star 2018 event. Having worked with a variety of athletes, influencers, and musicians, he has developed an ability to pull strong performances out of both actors and non-actors. His 2019 award-winning short film, Sides of a Horn, was executive produced by Sir Richard Branson and featured in The New York Times. Toby is driven by story first, so even his most high-energy commercial work will have a strong narrative arc at its core.
